✨ What Participants Learned

Under the expert guidance of facilitator Keefa Buyinza, participants explored a range of essential skills:

  • 📸 Photography Basics: Understanding camera settings, composition, and framing
  • 🌿 Finding Beauty in Nature: Discovering photographic opportunities in everyday surroundings and daily life
  • 💡 Using Light and Angles: Learning how natural light affects photos and experimenting with different perspectives
  • 📖 Storytelling Through Photos: Using images to tell meaningful stories about community life
  • 📱 Safe Digital and Social Media Skills: Understanding responsible online behavior and digital citizenship

An Inclusive Learning Environment

The workshop was designed to be accessible to everyone - no prior photography experience was needed. Participants ranged from young children eager to explore the world through a lens, to elders sharing their wisdom about the community and its natural beauty.

The outdoor setting at Wapa Green Garden provided the perfect backdrop for nature photography practice, with participants capturing images of flowers, trees, and wildlife while learning technical skills.

🤝 Bridging Generations Through Technology

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the workshop was watching young children teaching elders how to use smartphone cameras, while elders shared stories about the land and its history - creating intergenerational connections through the shared experience of photography.
